About SCOUTS New Zealand

Every year we help 16,000 young people in New Zealand enjoy new adventures; to experience the outdoors; interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Working alongside our youth members are thousands of adult volunteers, with a huge variety of roles and opportunities available.

There are four key cornerstones in the SCOUTS Movement, which are all realised through an outdoor experience including; outdoors, community, personal development and new experiences.  There is no other organisation quite like SCOUTS in New Zealand.

The programmes that we offer cater to the boys and girls development in the physical, emotional, spiritual and mental aspects of their lives in an appropriately safe environment where they are encouraged to be themselves, work together and thrive.

Our Purpose and Vision

We empower youth through adventurous experiences to lead lives that make a positive difference.

Our vision is that in 2025, more than 25,000 youth will enjoy scouting adventures.  They will come from every background with a place for all, shape their own experiences and make a positive difference for New Zealand.  For more details about how we plan to achieve this vision, please review our Better Prepared strategy, launched in May 2015.

Our Values

Have Respect - For yourself and others
  - For the environment
Do What is Right - Be trustworthy and tolerant
  - Have integrity
Be Positive - Accept challenges with courage
  - Be a friend to all

Fundraising

Ngaio Scouts have been looking to build a new hall for 30 years and finally had the opportunity to purchase the land our hall is on. We now have plans to extend the hall done and have most of the money required. However we are short some $40-$50 thousand, we are in the process of raising those extra funds that are needed. If you feel you can help, we have a givealittle page https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/ngaioscoutgroup/
